The road to sign-on: how a new TV station gets on the air
Launching a new over-the-air TV station isn't a switch you flip — it's a process. Here's the path we're on, so you can follow along.
The steps
- Application filed — we submit our proposal to the FCC.
- Accepted for filing — the FCC puts the application on public notice.
- Construction permit granted — approval to build the station.
- Build-out — transmitter, antenna, and studio go in.
- License to cover — final FCC sign-off once we're built and tested.
- Sign-on — we go live over the air.
